Welcome to the Warriors historical site . this took over a year to compile and I had a great time doing it. It all came
about almost 2 years back that I told my brother Mike the band should have more history to there website. I held on to most
stuff from high-school as well as my sister Joanne did. I took alot of photos of the band throughout the years. I was
active as a supporter from 1978-1995. In that time I took video and and film and kept alot of stuff as they say. So I decided
it was time to combine all this material and put it to good use. I asked around to many alumni and they were thrilled that
this was to take place. Unfortunately as time rolled on my sources to locate history was found to have become history. The
public library got rid of all the recorded music from the 70s. Much of the video that was done by WCNY was also gone. Marching
Bands of America would not help as well. Discouraging as this was I was determined to get this done. I placed an ad in the
paper in January and before you know it a bunch of stuff came my way. I received assistance from West Genesses webmaster and
former drummer Kevin who gave me insight on how to properly get things rolling.
I then had to get all the information
to the computer and downloaded. This took time. As for the music I was able to capture all music from the the inception of
recordings to 1990. The only year that nothing was available was 1977. Much of the tapes used were from recordings made
on vinyl but mostly from source tapes the masters of the original recordings are no longer since Mr Stith passed away. I have
had the ability to capture this music and now have it available for all the fans of the warriors. The CD is a great opportunity
to relive the past.
The DVD has been a struggle but has had help from Former band member Gary Gocek and an Alumni
parent . They donated alot of great film footage that will be seen in the dvd as well as video from WCNY from
1982-1990. This video I had captured on Beta from the 80s and restored all to as best as possible. Also I have recieved footage
of the band in Fla when they captured the National field band championship title in St Petersburg .
I
would like to thank as well all who donated photos and video and recordings and news articles. Also to WCNY for giving marching
Band a whole new meaning fo great coverage through out the 80s to present.
I would like to thank you
the alumni family and friends for taking the time to take a look back at the past
and the hopes that the future will
be just as memorable.
