liverpool_1979_winter_guard036.jpgThe color guard was an integral part of the marching band. The initial duties of the colorguard was to protect the american flag. Back in the day this was judged as well. The banner line as well as the rifle and sabre line became import parts of the field show. Through the years the color guard used many different style flags, rifles and sabres to enhance the general effect of the show.
During the winter months the colorguard would continue to compete in the indoor gym . the shows were 10 mins long and consisted of recorded music and drill. Liverpool went from the drumline backing them for music to recorded music.
The colorguard has been in many competitions throughout the northeast. They have traveled to Canada to compete as well. They are members of the MidYork Colorguard Circuit, and the  WGI circuit . The winterguard made the 1991 finals at the WGI national championships.
